When you log into the VLS Network the computer will map (connect) to several hard drives on the VLS Network. These drives are used by the VLS community to store and share files. Each user is assigned a storage drive on the VLS Network with their Username as the title and the drive letter "J:". The J Drive is where each user will store ALL of their files on campus. The J Drive is accessible from every on-campus computer when the user logs into the VLS Network with their Username and VLS Network Password.
The following figures show what a typical computer will look like after the user with the Username Username logs into the VLS Network. For example: if your name was Kelly Reynolds your Username would be kreynolds. Therefore, your J Drive would be entitled kreynolds.
You can access these windows on your computer by double-clicking on the My Computer icon (which is usually in the upper left hand corner of the Desktop).
This view is the typical view that one would see after double-clicking the My Computer icon.

Clicking on the View pull down menu and then clicking on Details can achieve a better view of the connected network drives. This view is illustrated here:

| J: | "Username" | Storage of user's files |
