Daylight Savings Time Updates - Part IIIDST Begins on March 11On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete. Daylight Savings Time will begin on March 11 this year. The change in Daylight Savings Time could cause clock/time related computer malfunctions. VLS IT has updated computer systems campus wide to accommodate this change. Many people use different calendaring software, such as Outlook, and will need to install whatever patches are available from the manufacturer. Take a moment to think about the devices you rely on that usually adjust to Daylight Savings Time automatically. This year those devices may not adjust until three weeks late. Please set aside time to do the necessary updates. |
